THE HDV COURSE

At The Brighton Film School in Association with AVID UK

The new HDV format is revolutionising the low budget film industry. Filmmakers now have access to high definition pictures with small, low cost cameras. There is no excuse now, not to make that film!

This aim of this course is to give participants the technical skills and knowledge to make films using the Sony Z1 High Definition Video camera. It will equally cover post production and editing with Avid’s powerful Xpress Pro HD software. Using the Z1

This is a one day course aimed at those with some camera knowledge and familiarity with film grammar. It is for those interested in using the HDV format, for short films, documentaries and commercial work.

Since it’s release in 2005 Sony’s Z1 Camera has been a best seller because of its ability to shoot High Definition Video (and DV) in a true 16:9 frame. High definition is accessible now, and we will teach you to use it to best effect.

The course concentrates on practical and technical knowledge of HDV cameras, and editing. AVID Logo

As well as looking in depth at this camera we will also discuss the merits alternative cameras such as the very impressive Canon XLH-1.
