Film Directors' Course in Motion Picture Production

These are highly technical courses (2 evenings or 1 day a week for 3 months) and are designed for those who want to explore their own skills and interests in film-making. Thus all aspects of production are included - from Screenwriting and Directing through to Cinematography and Editing.  Both essential technical theory and practical tuition by a variety of lecturers in all disciplines of film production is combined with the all-important film company visits, providing a route which may also be available either as an Access Course to other establishments offering full-time degree courses or apprenticeship opportunities in the industry.

This Course is structured to provide you with a rich tapestry of tuition in motion picture production theory, practice, film art and appreciation plus field trips where possible.

Quote from a student:  "I really appreciated your course - and half the people I know now, I would never have met if it wasn't for you".

The Directors' Courses in Motion Picture Production are structured to provide you with a rich tapestry of tuition in motion picture production theory and practice, film art and appreciation. Visits to studios etc are also arranged when possible.  There are also occasional weekend trips and we are always invited to events organised by the British Society of Cinematographers at Pinewood Studios where Freddie Francis, Alex Thompson, Roy Field and many other distinguished DPs have always make us very welcome.  The latest major visit was to see Jack Cardiff - now our Patron - just prior to his receiving of his lifetime Oscar. Our Students' Society also holds Club Nights to socialise and watch films. They are also very pro-active and visits to both Technicolor and Panavision have been organised.
